Pregnancy Test and Ultrasound

Pregnancy Test and Ultrasound

Here’s what to expect at your appointment

Taking a pregnancy test can be emotional. You may feel excited or stressed, or anywhere in between.

We offer the following services for when you need to know:

  • Lab-quality pregnancy testing
  • Ultrasounds performed by competent staff (as indicated)
  • Options information
  • Assistance navigating prenatal care and pregnancy medicaid
  • A warm, attentive environment where you are heard and cared for.

When you arrive for your pregnancy test appointment, you will be greeted by the receptionist and asked to complete intake information. You’ll also be asked to provide a photo ID to be added to your chart. If you do not have a photo ID, we will ask to take a headshot for identification purposes.

We have registered nurses on staff who perform pregnancy tests and ultrasounds. Your pregnancy test will be administered by a nurse on staff, and you can expect to be asked health history questions by the nurse just before the test. All of your information is kept strictly confidential.

The pregnancy tests used at First Choice Solutions detect the presence of a certain hormone in your urine called hCG, and are very accurate. You will be asked to provide a urine sample, and the nurse will perform the test while you wait. The results will be available within a few minutes. You will have plenty of time with the nurse to discuss your results, your options, and your next steps.

The nurse may schedule a follow-up appointment for an ultrasound, or perform an ultrasound the same day. Our nurses are competent in performing “Limited Obstetric Ultrasound” which scans for the existence of a viable pregnancy and confirms expected delivery date (“due date”).

You will be given all the time you need to ask questions and discuss your results. If your pregnancy test is negative, you may schedule a follow-up appointment to test again for free. If your test is positive, you can discuss with the nurse what to expect and what your options are.

Whether you are seeking help with a long-awaited pregnancy or surprised by an unintended one, we can give you information to help you decide what’s next.

Any life change can make you feel as though your world is spinning, but we can help you get back in control.

Patients come to us from a variety of life situations with questions about single parenting, adoption, and abortion. Knowing your choices is the first step to making an informed decision.

If you choose to parent, you will not be alone. We will walk with you throughout your pregnancy to ensure you have the support you need. Through our educational programs, material assistance, support groups and extensive referrals, you are cared for throughout pregnancy and beyond. Learn more here.
